Ingredients
- White butter(plain) – 2 table spoons
- Powdered sugar – 1 table spoon
- Cardamom powder – 1 pinch
Method
- Mix all ingredients well. Do not omit this if you are doing the pooja, as this is Lord Krishna’s favourite!
Ingredients
- Sukku (dried ginger) – 2 inch piece
- Jaggery – 2 table spoons
Method
- Crush the sukku with a kitchen mortar and pestle(ulakkai) to a powder.
- Mix with the jaggery. This is important for digestion.
Sukku powder is also available ready made in stores, but the freshly crushed powder will have nice flavour and some fibre.
[…] Navaneetham […]
i have always wondered how navaneetham is actually done in other households..in mine we mix milk, butter, curd, cream, kalkandu and saffron and offer it as navaneetham.
Flavored butter must be very delicious.
That sounds interesting Latha. Viji

What does navaneetham mean?
I believe sukku-vellam is good for digestion.
Hi,
I want to make white butter recipe for Janmashtami this year, but dont know how to make white butter. I am in UK with availability of specialised indian utensils is less. Can u please help me ?
The sukku-vellam should be mixed with pure liquified ghee. The heat that the sukku generates will be nullified with mixing of ghee. The aroma also adds to the taste.
Nice receipe thanks for giving us the ingredents and methods.
