One Thayir pachadi is always included in a tambram menu. My mother used to make one pachadi every day. This is one of them. (Raita in hindi).
Posting this recipe on special request from Kamini of Bubbling Cauldron.

- Hing – 2 pinches
- Mustard seeds – 1/2 teaspoon
- Urad dal – 1 teaspoon
- Oil – 1 teaspoons
- Salt to taste
Method
- Wash and pressure cook the potato. Peel and mash well

Paatti’s meals always had rice with sambar, rasam, kootu/two karamedu (veggies), pachadi, thayir (curd) and appalams(papads).
she would finish all of this from scratch, in variations of with and without karam (esp for thatha and her son in law) in not more than 30 minutes to an hour depending on the number of people!!!
podis from karruppu podi to paruppu podi, a few varieties of pickles were always there at home.
this post is making me miss paatti a lot :(. she is and will always be the greatest cook in the world for me.
of course amma, i love your cooking too 😉

lakshmi – “african wildlife entertainment diet for the last 18 years” meaning?

i want to participate in yur srijayanti event too… i love to make pedas for krishna janamashatami… hope i can make it this time and contribute to yur event too 😀
meaning a majority of television time was occupied with discovery, national geographic and animal planet!!! and most of the time programmes which covered african parks ruled the roost – i must have seen the great migration of wildebeest like a zillion times. :D. pedas sounds like a delicious idea – looking forwards to your contribution. btw, most recipes are written by my mother, latha (who started this blog in the first place). i am a juvenile novice who thinks the kitchen is a playground. 😀
