Hi Lakshmi,
Thanks for dropping by my blog and leaving me a line. I am in RA Puram.
I once had a potato thair pachadi in a friends place. They mentioned that it was totally an Iyengar preparation. Would you know how to make that? Thanks a lot.

Hi,
I am from Srivilliputhur, India. It is so very heartening to learn about this blog.
I think the iyengar community needs some more grouping to safeguard their culture, heritage and tradition or else it may be lost forever.
I would like all those who are with god’s grace well off financially, to help poor iyengars by way of assistance for education, medication and other such actions. Although many iyengars have taken flight to prosperity out of Tamil Nadu, many still are living here in an environment of prejudice, subjugation, discrimation and apathy.
Though this is not the place, I just thought.

Hello Sri Rajagopal,
Happy to hear u r from Srivilliputhur. My mom was from there.
I am Sridhar from originally Mumbai, was for a spell in Ernakulam, Kochi.
R u the same Rajagopal, son of late Sri Rajam Iyengar of Vazzakula Street of Srivilliputhur?
Ur early reply will be well appreciated.

Hi, this is the first time iam checking this blog.Iam sure am going to be regular visitor.Hope iam able to prepare the yummy recipes and impress my husband and family!!
Hi Latha mami,
You truly are a God-send! I’m not exaggerating. The reasons are as follows:
1. I’m just learning to cook.
2. I prefer recipes in English and you have them (I have no books to follow)
3. I’m away from India and there’s no one to guide me, except the phone calls that I can make home, which anyway can’t be that often.
4. You have Iyengar recipes, which I need desperately!
5. Your measurements are so perfect.
6. You have put all the recipes online (you are a true blend of tradition and modernity).
Thank you, thank you, thank you so much for all your posts!
Love you and look forward to more… (please put recipes for karthigai urundai also…)
With love and regards,
Vijaya.
Hi Latha,
Nice to see lots of authentic recipes, Being an iyengar i found very interesting.
This is indeed a unique site and much needed by the younger generation. However, it is indeed a pity that two Non vegetarian recipes appear as “Automatically Generated Recipes,” when one is surfing this site!

Dear Iyengar Bhaktas,
Kindly accept my humble Dandavat Pranaams.
Is there a list of pure Iyengar Recipes of Bharata, regardless of loyalty to Acarya and divisions? Also, am not an Iyengar by birth; but do not consume Tamasica ingredients (Onion, Garlic, Red Chilli Peppers etc) as prescribed in Vedic literature and by Prof. Dr. RadhaKrishan, our ancestor.
Would much appreciate Sattvica Iyengar recipes. Kindly indicate if there is such a collection or recommend an Iengar Sattvica Recipe Book. Would be keen inf you could post some Iyengar specials; also Mysore Hebbar Iyengar specials if there are any.
HariBol!

All recipes offered by Relish are amazing. I have used so many of them for me and my family and I have never gotten any bad feedback, not even from my kids. I even use them to entertain my guests for parties through out the year and they always are a hit. They offer recipes for different times of the season, holidays, and obviously countless recipes of different cuisines.
I am interesetd in recipe for typical Iyengar traditional vareity of Kuzhambu Podi and satruamudhu (rasam) podi. Can some oen help?
T P Sampath (66)
Its very easy to prepare and very delicious
hello aunty paruppu usuli eppadi pannanumnu solreengala
thanks
I help my wife in cooking and we lost the family receipe for Kuzhambu and satramaudhu (rasam) podi(powder) formulae. Though we had seen variations in this from different Iyengar homes, can you post this as your would recommend. I welcome others to advise as well. I have also found that adding a few Vendhiyam (Methi) seeds to the sambar powder as it boils makes a very disstinct flavour that makes an Iyengar Kuzhambhu. T P Sampath Gurgaon India
